Looking for ways to appreciate and enjoy the last month of summer? This August, Union on Queen knows our residents want to soak up some summer sunshine rays. Whether you’re ready to hike, bike, run, or try a new outdoor activity you will enjoy all of these Arlington County trails.
Windy Run- This trail is less than a mile long, that is a hidden gem of Arlington. Taking about 20 minutes to complete, it is perfect for beginner hikers or someone looking for an easier hike.
Potomac Overlook Trail- The perfect trail for these summer months, this trail is about 1.5 miles long. An incredibly popular spot for hiking, running, and walking as it is typically considered an easier trail. Dogs on leases are also welcome.
Donaldson Run Trail and White Trail- Roughly a 2-mile trial open year-round. With several stream crossings, make sure to wear the right shoes! Pack a basket and have a wonderful picnic at the Potomac waterfall.

Great Falls Park- Welcome to those looking to fish, boat, and kayak. Enjoy paddling down the Potomac River George, along the way you’ll experience surf and play waves.
Mason Neck State Park- Boasting a forest, wetlands, and ponds, Mason Neck is a fun place for wildlife observation. Be sure to watch for bald eagles as you paddle along in your kayak. The park is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to dusk. You can bring your own kayak or rent one starting at 9:30 a.m.
