The Mount Vernon Trail

A scenic trail that is sandwiched along the course of the Potomac River and the George Washington Memorial Parkway. The trail passes through Rosslyn, Old Town Alexandria and connects with many regional trails, and offers beautiful views of Washington D.C. along the way.

This 18-mile trail is open to several modes of transportation. Including running, walking, cycling, and is totally pet-friendly! (As long as they are leased.)

There are so many views and things to see along your way on the Mount Vernon Trail. Such as Riverside Park. Which offers picnic and fishing areas and incredible views of the Potomac.

Fort Hunt Park is two miles from Mount Vernon and lies on what used to be farmland belonging to George Washington’s Mount Vernon estate.

The Waterfront in Old Town Alexandria has gorgeous views from the docks across the Potomac River. With so many things to do, such as dockside dining, boutique shops, exploring the parks, and the famous Torpedo Art Factory.

Along the 18-mile Mount Vernon Trail, there are plenty of flowers and wildlife to come across! As well as historical sites, shopping, dining, and entertainment. A perfect way to spend a day!
