Try the Whiskey Bread Pudding at Barley Mac

You might assume that a restaurant with a name like Barley Mac specializes in down-home comfort foods. You wouldn’t be wrong, as the menu at this Arlington eatery includes dishes like house-made meatballs, garlic cream mac and cheese, and fried chicken sandwiches. But regulars at this popular eatery know that the menu also includes a range of creative, modern dishes (think grilled salmon with shredded Brussels sprouts and corn slaw, for example) as well as desserts like whiskey bread pudding studded with currents and topped with a drizzle of golden butterscotch.

In addition, Barley Mac’s reputation for carrying a wide selection of specialty whiskeys and bourbons is one of the restaurant’s big draws, and the bar’s cocktail menu includes a tempting combination of classic drinks and new inventions (try the “porch sipper,” which combines bourbon with sweet tea).
