Celebrate With the Family at First Night Alexandria

Despite its name, the popular First Night Alexandria celebration actually starts around 10 am on December 31, so if you're interested in getting a family-friendly head start on ringing in the New Year, this might be the event for you.

At 10 a.m. the Alexandria Library is hosting "Noon Year's Eve" for all the little ones, with music, arts and crafts, and a comedy show. At 1 p.m. you'll have your choice between a tour of the George Washington Masonic Memorial, an oil and vinegar tasting at Olio, or a storytelling session at a local bookstore. An hour later the official neighborhood fun hunt begins (with prizes for both adults and kids). More than 100 additional events are scheduled throughout the day, leading up to the big fireworks display at midnight, so First Night Alexandria is truly an event that can offer something for everyone. Head over to the website to purchase your tickets and to see a full schedule and map of events.
