Enjoy Happy Hour Cocktails or Inventive Brunch Fare at Matchbox in Pentagon City

From weekend brunch to weekday happy hour, Pentagon City's Matchbox knows how to draw a crowd. On Saturday and Sunday mornings, patrons flock here for crispy chicken over waffles with sausage gravy and maple syrup. They indulge in morning eats like the Walk of Shame burrito, stuffed with scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, short rib, green chile sauce, and breakfast potatoes. Or they dig into orders of the ooey-gooey cinnamon rolls, which are still hot from the cast iron skillet.

From 3 to 7 p.m. on weekdays, Arlingtonians come to Matchbox for happy hour. Cocktails, draft beers, and wine from the tap are all on special ($5+), as well as apps and wood-fired pizzas. Order a few small plates to share, such as the spicy tuna tartare tacos, the Maryland crab dip, and the jumbo chicken wings, or tear into your own wood-fired pizza, like the Fire + Smoke. It's loaded with roasted red peppers, smoked gouda cheese, basil, and onions, all over an exceptionally fiery chipotle puree, which stands in for traditional tomato sauce.
